Games

Three browser games and one working model on one small engine, set in real history.

The kind of game I grew up on: Command & Conquer, Stronghold. Simple to learn and hard to win, with the history checked against sources. It is early: a mission or two each so far.

Every game can play its own win. Press Watch it played on the opening sheet and it plays a recorded winning game, then hands it to you whenever you press Take command. Click any unit or building to read what it was and how to use it. Use a computer: they need a mouse and WebGL.

North Africa · 1940–41 Sandtable
A war game in the old Command & Conquer manner. Nibeiwa camp at dawn, 9 December 1940, then Sonnenblume, March 1941. Build, haul stores, fight. Two missions
Normandy · 1196–97 Castellan
Raise Château Gaillard for Richard the Lionheart: cut the ditch, raise the curtain and the keep, and close the ring before the spring of 1197. A tight one. One mission
Giza · c. 2560 BC Akhet
How Khufu's Great Pyramid was built, at full scale: every gang, sledge and block of today's leading theories moving as one system, with the workers, ramps and years counted. A model to watch rather than a game to win; it runs by itself. Model
East Tennessee · 1861 Holdfast
Keep the Teague farm, and the Teagues, through the war. The first season: fence the new ground, plant the corn, raise the springhouse, and keep six people fed. Season one
